One dead and 60 affected by a new cholera outbreak near the capital of Zimbabwe

MADRID Jan. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The health authorities of Zimbabwe confirmed this Friday one death and 60 cases of cholera in two areas of the town of Mazowe municipality, 40 kilometers from the capital, Harare.

The outbreak began on December 21 in a floral band in Mazowe. The farm only had a single water supply tap and its hygiene facilities did not have adequate equipment.

The head of health for the province of Mashonaland, Takura Mzorodzi, has confirmed the balance to the Zimbabwean newspaper ‘The Herald’ and asked the authorities to immediately remodel the infrastructure of local communities to prevent the spread of these cases.

In August last year, Zimbabwe declared the end of the last cholera epidemic that began in February 2023 and left 718 dead in the country.
