Ojo de Pez 2022 opens its popular vote and invites its virtual Expo

It is now possible to vote for your favorite photograph(s) of the Ojo de Pez contest in its 2022 version. The Jury, after hard work, chose the 30 finalists. The 3 most voted images will obtain the Ojo de Pez Book: Chile in images of Water and Life and will be highlighted as winners of the Public.

On the contest website (www.ojopez.cl) or through the Facebook pages of the organizing institutions (Institute of Marine and Limnological Sciences of the Austral University of Chile, Explora Los Ríos Project of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation and the High Latitude Marine Ecosystem Dynamics Research Center), the public will be able to “like” and/or share the most outstanding images of Chile’s aquatic ecosystems until October 3. This contest seeks to highlight the importance of these environments for citizens through photographs that show the beauty of landscapes, their flora, fauna and the effects that human activities have on them.

It should be noted that this version received 282 photographs from 110 applicants in the categories of “Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic Environments”, “Landscape, Work and Aquatic Conservation” and “Aquatic Flora and Fauna”. The community is also invited to the Fish Eye Virtual Expo where you can see the best photos of the Contest from 2016 to the present version in an easy-to-view format.

It should be noted that the photographs will also be exhibited later at the RA Philippi Exploration Museum, where the community will be able to enjoy the 30 photos selected by the Jury for free in the 2022 version.

The Ojo de Pez Contest is sponsored by the School of Marine Biologythe Vice President for Research, Development and Artistic Creation and the PhD in Marine Biology dependent on the UACh. In addition, it collaborates RA Philippi Museum of Exploration of the UACh and the Sea and Science Foundation.
