An observation mission from the Organization of American States (OAS) will be deployed again in Guatemala, the organization said Monday, after the country’s Constitutional Court ordered the highest electoral court to review the counts of the first round of the election. presidential.

The Constitutional Court ordered on Saturday the Supreme Electoral Tribunal to review the votes of the first round of the presidential election on June 25, shortly after the party of one of the favored candidates and its allies challenged the results.

“A technical team made up of observers, observers and specialists in electoral organization and technology will be traveling to Guatemala,” the OAS said in a statement, in which it did not specify the day they will arrive in the Central American country.

“The Mission will be present at the new ballots and will continue to gather relevant information, ahead of the second presidential round on August 20,” added the OAS, also clarifying that this second exercise was not included in its calendar.
