American chipmaker Nvidia plans to build an artificial intelligence center (AI) of 200 million dollars in Indonesia as part of its offensive in Southeast Asia.
As reported by CNBC, according to the Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, the new facility will be based in the city of Surakarta, in the province of Central Java, and will reinforce the local telecommunications infrastructure, human resources and digital talent.
This is the first joint project between Nvidia and Indonesian telecommunications giant Indosat Ooredoo Hutchiso.

In January, Singaporean telecoms provider Singtel announced its partnership with Nvidia to deploy AI capabilities in its Southeast Asian data centers.
Singtel stated in March that the initiative would provide businesses in the region with access to Nvidia's AI computing power by this year, without the need for customers to invest in and manage their own expensive data center infrastructure.
The new facility will be based in the city of Surakarta, Central Java province, and will strengthen local telecommunications infrastructure.
Southeast Asia has proven to be a major revenue driver for Nvidia. A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission report last year showed that about 15%, or $2.7 billion, of the company's revenue in the quarter ended October came from Singapore.
