Norwegian security forces have arrested a second Russian citizen on Saturday with drones and cameras after he was identified taking photos of an airport in the north of the country, which would contravene the sanctions adopted by the Nordic country as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.
The 51-year-old detainee, whose name was not released, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of flying a drone in Norway and later confessed to his crime.
“The Police confiscated a large amount of photographic equipment, including a drone and memory cards,” explained the Tromso City Police in a statement collected by the NRK chain.
The confiscated material included photographs of an airport in the city of Kirkenes where Norwegian Army Bell helicopters were located. It was one of the airport employees who notified the Police and the individual has been placed in preventive detention for four weeks.
This is the second arrest made this week of a Russian citizen after the one that occurred on Thursday in the Storskog area, the only border crossing with Russia.
The first suspect, who had been in Norway since August, has claimed that he was unaware of this veto and that his visit was only for tourist purposes.
