The South Korean Army has denounced this Friday that for the third time in a month several North Korean soldiers have crossed the military demarcation line that separates both parts of the Demilitarized Zone, an action for which they have responded with warning shots fired at them. return to their territory.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff have indicated that the incident took place around 11:00 a.m. (local time) on Thursday and that “it appears to be accidental,” as the soldiers continued working until the evening, when they returned to North Korea, according to The Yonhap news agency has reported.

Seoul reported similar cases on June 9 and 18, alleging that the “mistake” is due to the large amount of undergrowth in these areas, which makes it difficult to see the demarcation line. In recent weeks, Pyongyang has increased its number of soldiers on the border to carry out fortification and mining work, for which they must remove the aforementioned weeds.

These actions have taken place amid an escalation of hostilities between the two countries, especially after Pyongyang launched dozens of balloons full of garbage to Seoul, in response to the launch of propaganda against the Kim Jong Un regime by a group of North Korean defectors.
