South Korean authorities have reported that they have detected some 500 balloons with garbage launched from North Korea in the last few hours, one of which fell on Wednesday at the official headquarters of the country’s presidency.
Some 480 balloons have crashed in the Seoul area and in the northern part of the nearby Gyeonggi province, the South Korean military’s General Staff reported, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.
The latest wave follows the previous one launched on Sunday, which also included some 500 balloons in a propaganda war that began in May and to which Seoul responded with loudspeakers playing pop music and propaganda. In addition, South Korean activists launched leaflets towards the North side.
