North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui has assured that they will not give up nuclear weapons despite warnings from the G7 to “completely and irreversibly dismantle” the nuclear arsenal.
The joint communiqué of the G7 foreign ministers, in which it was stated that North Korea cannot have nuclear weapons due to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) has been dismissed by Choe as “improper”, “illegal”, ” absurd” and of interfering in their sovereignty.
“The position of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) as a nuclear power is an indisputable reality, regardless of whether the US and the West do not recognize it for a hundred or a thousand years,” Choe said in a statement from the North Korean news agency. KCNA.
In addition, he recalled that his country has no obligation to the NPT, from which they withdrew 20 years ago.
The minister has insisted that North Korea continue with its policy of “strengthening its self-defense military capabilities” to deter the “threat” of the United States, whose security will only be guaranteed when “they eradicate their hostile policies” against the DPRK.
“The G7 is a self-serving group of a handful of countries that does not represent the international community, but rather serves as a political tool to maintain US hegemony,” he concluded.
