North Korea has launched this Friday morning a new ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, all this a day after Seoul successfully carried out a solid-fuel space launch.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff is still analyzing the launch specifications based on flight distance, altitude and speed, the Yonhap news agency reported.
The North Korean launch comes eight days after it fired two solid-propelled short-range ballistic missiles (SRMBs) from Pyongyang province.
Likewise, on December 25, five drones invaded South Korean airspace and one of them reached the north of Seoul and then returned.
So far this year, North Korea has fired around 70 ballistic missiles. Including eight intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), and three cruise missiles, according to the aforementioned agency.
This new test by Pyongyang further escalates tensions in the region after North Korea has launched dozens of ballistic missiles in recent weeks in tests prohibited by UN Security Council resolutions, in response to military maneuvers. American-Korean forces that he considers an invasion rehearsal.
