US Secretary of State Antony Blinken asserted that Washington could use nuclear weapons to defend its “vital interests” and its allies.

The North Korean permanent mission to the UN criticized the hypocrisy of the United States, assuring that Washington has no right to accuse North Korea of nuclear threats, since the North American country is the “driver of nuclear proliferation”, according to a statement. published by the KCNA agency.

This Monday, at the 10th Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference taking place at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, stated that Pyongyang “continues expanding its nuclear program illegal” and that “it is preparing to carry out its seventh nuclear test”. In addition, he admitted that Washington could use nuclear weapons to defend their “vital interests” and their allies.

According to the statement, the accusations by the US and some “servile” countries are “unjustified.” In addition, he points out that it is the “last straw” that Washington make such remarks, when “historical and has systematically violated its obligations” of the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, “disturbing international peace and security”.

“Hegemony Strategy”

In this sense, the North Korean representation adds that the US is the one that really “undermines the foundations of the non-proliferation regime”, using “nuclear threats and blackmail against sovereign states” in order to carry out its “strategy of hegemony”. It states that it cannot deny that it transferred nuclear-powered submarine technology to Australia, as well as “conspired and sponsored Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons,” he continues.

Also remember that North Korea withdrew from the NPT through the respective procedure stipulated in the treaty itself, for which Pyongyang will not tolerate “baseless accusations” from Washington or its “servile” allies, nor will it allow others to intervene in its sovereign rights of self defense and national interests.

For his part, the director general of the Arms Control Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Fu Cong, urged the US at the same conference to withdraw all its nuclear weapons of Europe and refrain from deploying them in other regions of the world. The official warned that the US policy of “exchange of nuclear material” does nothing more than increase the risks of proliferation and conflict.
