Nintendo sales are down. The Japanese company confirmed in a meeting with investors that its system is about to venture into uncharted territory, clearly referring to the end of its life cycle. This was not long in being reflected in markets, such as the Japanese, in which not only PlayStation 5 is establishing its reign, but even Xbox is also taking advantage of Nintendo’s fall.
As we told you, PlayStation 5 has already managed to distance itself from the sales of Nintendo Switch in all its models and for the second consecutive week it is at the top of sales, something that has never happened before.

Xbox also takes advantage of the fall of Nintendo Switch in Japan
Well, the Sony console is not the only one that is taking advantage of the declining sales of Nintendo Switch, but also Xbox.
We say this because in the sales list of Famitsu (via Gematsu) last week, which spanned from January 1 to February 5, the Nintendo console only sold just 55,736 units, of which the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite sold 12,415 and 10,541 units, respectively.
The interesting thing is that in this same period Xbox Series S sold more than these last 2 models, since Microsoft’s cheapest system sold 14,277 units, which allowed it to be placed in 4th position on the sales list. The only Nintendo Switch model that outsold the Xbox Series S was the OLED.
In case you missed it: Nintendo says it has a plan to continue selling the Nintendo Switch without lowering the price.
Why did Xbox Series S outsell 2 Nintendo Switch models in Japan?
This does not mean that Xbox consoles will become the new leader in Japan, far from it. The Xbox family of consoles sold a total of 14,644 units last week and were the least-selling current-generation systems; However, it is an achievement that should be highlighted, since defeating 2 Nintendo Switch models is not common.
This is all because Nintendo has already sold 28 million units in Japan alone, which means there should be fewer people interested in buying it simply because they already have one. In addition, the console has just entered an advanced stage of its life cycle, although that does not mean that it will run out of games in the coming months.
Next we leave you with the most recent list of hardware sales in Japan.
