Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets with the Vietnamese community in Indonesia

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc met on December 22 with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia, the Vietnamese delegation to ASEAN and the Vietnamese community living and working in Indonesia.

The president said that the Vietnamese Party and State always pay attention to the overseas Vietnamese community, regarding it as an inseparable part of the great bloc of national unity.

The president wished the Vietnamese community, especially Vietnamese companies in Indonesia, to carry forward bilateral trade cooperation, especially in agricultural products and high-tech electronics.

He informed them that he had recently had fruitful talks with President Joko Widodo and that several cooperation agreements had been signed on that occasion, with more to come in the near future.

He is also scheduled to visit the ASEAN Secretariat, meet with the ASEAN Secretary General, ambassadors and charge d’affaires of ASEAN member states, showing Vietnam’s appreciation for security, self-resilience and the central role of the block.

On the occasion, the President asked the Vietnamese Embassy and other representative agencies in Indonesia to continue fulfilling the assigned tasks and materialize the results of his visit, including boosting bilateral ties in innovation, a stronghold of Indonesia.

They were also urged to work closely with the host authorities next year, when Indonesia will assume the role of ASEAN chairman, help companies from both countries navigate each other’s markets, and continue citizen protection work, making thus practical contributions to the homeland.
