BANGLADESH
After five days of nationwide blackouts, broadband internet connections have been partially restored in Bangladesh, rocked by protests against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that left more than 150 dead. Authorities said the restoration would be carried out on a trial basis, with initial priority given to the banking, trade, technology, export, third-party service providers and media sectors. The leading English-language news site, The Daily Star is back online last night and denied that the blockage was due to a fire at a data center during the protests.

A Saurya Airlines plane it crashed at Kathmandu International Airport while taking off for Pokhara for maintenance. There were 19 people on board, all technical staff of the airline, but no passengers. The captain was rescued from the wreckage and hospitalised.
