New Witcher game doesn’t convince; CDPR rejects its original proposal

CDPR Not Convinced With The Molasses Flood Witcher Game

According to information from VGCCD Projekt informed its investors that it has decided to re-evaluate the project known until now as Project Sirius ―a campaign and multiplayer game inspired by the universe of The Witcher and developed by the North American study The Molasses Flood― in terms of its scale and potential in the market. That said, the Polish company informed its partners that it will apply an impairment adjustment of $10 million USD, the sum of the amounts used in this project during 2021 and 2022 and a figure that must be officially taken as an expense (not investment) since it will not generate any value to the company.

CD Projekt justified the changes with the following statement: “the aforementioned decision is based on the results of the evaluation of the scope and commercial potential of the original concept of Project Siriusand the ongoing work to formulate a new framework for this project”.

Taking into account the map of projects presented by CD Projekt, Project Sirius would be the next game of The Witcherthen a new trilogy will start and at some point a much more ambitious third project will be released.

Finally, it is a fact that the Polish company wants to avoid a disaster like that of cyberpunk 2077 and is acting on time, now the developers of The Molasses Flood will have to adapt the concept and its scope to commercial projections.
