Microsoft has presented a new wireless controller called Proteus, which offers a modular design to promote accessibility and its use by people with special needs, which can be used for both Xbox and PC.

Proteus is a controller that Microsoft has developed in collaboration with ByoWave and that offers a kit with “infinite configurations”, made up of several modules that can be adapted based on the needs of the players.

This format responds to the name ‘snap and play’, that is, pieces that connect easily to personalize the gaming experience. Also, each peripheral module has its own memory, so remembers the entry that has been assigned to it during the game.

The controller can be configured as a traditional ‘joystick’ or placed flat on a desk, like a mouse. In addition to its shape, it is also possible to change the color of the LED to any RGB value and also You can adjust the brightness.

The kit for Microsoft’s new accessible controller is made up of different buttons, triggers and interchangeable peripherals, including two analog cubes with Hall effect sensors.

The firm has also commented that this controller can be used with Xbox platforms (Series launch, It will not be compatible with PlayStation 5 (PS5) or Nintendo Switch.

Proteus can now be purchased in pre-sale through the ByoWave website and for a price of 255 dollars (around 235 euros at the current exchange rate). The first units are expected to ship in the fall of this year.
