Yesterday Intel launched the new series of Xeon W processors for workstations and performance enthusiasts. For these processors ASUS has released two motherboard models with W790 chipset and this LGA 4677 socket, each one for one of the available w3400 and w2400 series of processors that differ in some features. The news ASUS Pro WS W790-ACE are intended for Intel Xeon w2400 series and model Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE it is better suited to the Intel Xeon w3400, although both are compatible with the two series.
The ASUS Pro W790-Sage SE has 7 PCI Express 5.0 slots to work with multiple cards together with a 14+1+1 phase design and additional 8 and 6 pin connectors. Included in this model are 3 M.2 connectors for SSDs, two of which support PCI Express 5.0. It has 8 slots for DDR5 R-DIMM memory with a maximum of 2TB. For communications, we find 2 Intel 10 Gbps Ethernet ports and M.2 slot for WiFi. USB 3.2 Type C and A ports supporting 10 and 20 Gbps have also been added as well as internal connectors that extend these features.
The model ACE It has a 12+1+1 phase design and an additional 8-pin connector for extra power when working with multiple graphics cards, since Features 5 PCI Express 5.0 slots. Includes two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD ports with passive cooling and capacity for 8 quad-channel DDR5 memory modules with a maximum of 2TB. Included in this model are two ethernet connectors, one 10 Gbps and the other 2.5USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports up to 10 Gbps and one Type-C 20 Gbps have also been added along with internal connectors to expand these capabilities.
Both models have a advanced cooling system, both for the VRM and for the SSD protecting on both sides, as well as for the controllers of the ethernet cards and the chipset set. They also have advanced remote management software for work environments.
