Investigations fall on Neuralink
As recently as December, the company received a lawsuit over possible animal welfare violations, adding to internal staff complaints that animal testing is causing unnecessary suffering and death.
The federal investigation was initiated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and focuses on violations of the Animal Welfare Act, which governs the treatment of test animals by researchers.
Some people inside Neuralink complained that Musk pushed to speed up development, resulting in failed experiments, according to internal documents also seen by Reuters, including messages, audio recordings, emails and presentations.
The news agency reported that errors in the tests caused them to be repeated and, therefore, the number of animals that died from such experiments also grew.
