For some time now, Netflix has been looking for ways to discourage its users from sharing their accounts in an unauthorized way, and although we had seen measures such as geolocation, now we see how the company it seems that he will “accept” that accounts be shared in exchange for an additional payment per userwhich will be paid by the account holder.
For now, it is not known what additional fees will be charged to users, but it is known that it will be around a quarter of the initial value of the user’s subscription, something that would end up being about $3 or $4 per user outside of the account holder’s home environment.
Netflix says it loses around $6 billion due to account sharing, so hopefully the company wants this money back in the form of subscriptions of these additional users, who can even choose the new lower-priced subscription with ads.
