Netflix is removing its basic ad-free plan, now these options remain

What about the basic Netflix plan?

The measure began in Canada, where said subscription cost 9.99 Canadian dollars (approximately 128 pesos). Now, new subscribers will be able to access only three plan options.

In this way, if they want to pay little, they will have to subscribe to the plan with ads of 5.99 Canadian dollars (77.15 pesos) per month. Otherwise, they will be able to opt for a standard plan without ads of 16.49 CAD (212.39 pesos) or the premium plan of 20.99 CAD (270.35 pesos).

The basic plan that disappeared only allowed you to watch the content in HD, without ads and on a single device at a time.

The measure will only affect new subscribers, as existing ones will not be affected, Kumiko Hidaka told The Verge. And, so far, it is not known if this policy will begin to be applied in other markets, such as Mexico.

What Netflix subscription plans exist in Mexico?

Currently, there are four plans for the Mexican market:

Standard with ads, 99 pesos per month
Basic without ads, 139 pesos per month
Standard, 219 pesos per month
Premium, 299 pesos per month

The differences between the plans are in the resolution of the image, the quality of the transmission and the number of simultaneous equipment that can be used.

In the past, Netflix has used test markets to observe consumer behavior when restricted from sharing passwords with friends and family. After the success of their tests, they extended these policies to the rest of the markets, including Mexico.
