Netflix grows again, but does not modify its plans

The largest share of new Netflix subscribers during the last quarter came from the Asia-Pacific region, which accounted for 1.43 million users. The United States and Canada, for their part, registered less pronounced growth, adding only 100,000 subscribers.

In any case, according to Bloomberg, these are results that exceeded the forecasts made by the company itself, which estimated an addition of one million paying users for the quarter. This translated into a rise of up to 12% of the shares after hours.

Netflix, now with a renewed optimistic outlook, believes fourth quarter growth will continue, adding 4.5 million new subscribers. Although, yes, it will be far from the 8.3 million that was added in the same period last year.

The company, which just enabled profile transfer, also made reference to account sharing in the letter to shareholders. “We came up with a thoughtful approach to monetizing account sharing and we will start rolling it out more broadly from early 2023“, he pointed.

Thus, we see how the different parts of the new Netflix strategy begin to gradually activate. The measures to prevent users from sharing their accounts, which will be intensified next year, and the new Basic Plan with advertising that will be available from November in some countries, including Spain.
