Netflix gains 8 million subscribers after crackdown on account sharing

Netflix In recent years, it has been making a series of unpopular moves, not only the relevant price increase or the inclusion of an advertising plan that was previously unthinkable, but also with the controversial ban on shared accounts.

Many thought that with this series of movements, and also because of the competition, Netflix was going to end up losing subscribers worldwide, and if at first it seemed that way, things seem to have worked out pretty well for them.

In the last few hours, have shared a subscriber disclosure document, highlighting the gains they made during the second fiscal quarter of the year.

They have highlighted in this regard the significant increase in subscribers, which reached 8 million new subscribers during the quarter.

In this way, the company now has a total of 278 million subscribers worldwide.

Much of the blame also lies with the new advertising plan, which costs just €5.49 per month in Spain, and which has allowed many people to join Netflix without having to pay the €12.99 subscription for the standard plan.

This has also caused Netflix’s revenue to skyrocket, with a year-on-year growth of 17%which they believe will represent overall revenue growth globally when the fiscal year ends.

The company is pinning high hopes on subscriptions to its advertising plan, which it believes will contribute significantly to revenue for the coming year.
