Netflix continues to make decisions that leave more than one of its users scratching their heads. The most recent is to perform a series of steps that hint that you are planning to remove one of your cheaper plans.

In case you don’t know, the Basic Plan for Netflix is the one that offers 720p resolution on a television for $9.99 CAD. For its part, the Standard plan with ads is offered for $6.99 CAD and the Standard plan without ads is offered for $15.49 CAD.

With this, Netflix is eliminating one of its cheapest subscription options. This seems to be a sign that the Standard Plan with Ads is more profitable for you despite the fact that it is a cheaper option for the consumer. Either that or you’re simply looking to get more users to that plan to be more attractive to advertisers.
The good news is that, at least for now, there are no plans for the Standard Plan to disappear from other parts of the world. So it seems that it is an experiment that will only be tested in Canada. We will be on the lookout and we will inform you in case it reaches more parts of the world.
