June 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has issued a warning this Sunday to the Israeli settlers who, in recent days, have staged numerous incidents in their attempts to settle in the occupied Palestinian territory without the permission of the Israeli authorities.
Netanayhu has referred to events such as the raid carried out on Wednesday by some 200 settlers against the city of Turmus Aya, which resulted in the death of a Palestinian. The settlers have justified themselves by arguing that this advance took place as a protection measure after the death of four Israelis in an attack carried out in the surroundings of the Eli settlement.
In response, Netanyahu stressed this Sunday that “the adequate response against terrorism involves the fight against terrorists and an effort to deepen our roots in accordance with the construction plans that we have approved; with emphasis on the word ‘approved’ “.
The prime minister has warned that any calls to “illegally appropriate land are unacceptable” as “violating law and order in the West Bank”, in a veiled response to the Minister of National Security and avowed ultranationalist, Itamar Ben Gvir, who has called for settlers to “take the hills” to defend against terrorism.
“Our government”, Netanyahu stressed, “not only does not support these acts, but it will act decisively against them”, according to statements collected by the ‘Times of Israel’.
