He will speak before the UN General Assembly on Friday
September 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to depart on Tuesday, September 24, aboard his official plane, the “Wings of Zion,” for New York on a five-day trip to the United States that is expected to include an address at the annual session of the UN General Assembly on Friday, September 27.
Sources from the Yedioth Aharonoth newspaper explain that the appearance before the General Assembly means that he will end the day without enough time to return to Israel that same day without breaking the obligatory Sabbath, so he will spend the entire weekend in the United States.
The speech is likely to pay particular attention to the situation in northern Israel and Lebanon as speculation mounts of an escalation in the conflict between the Israeli military and militias of the Lebanese Shiite party Hezbollah.
Netanyahu already spent a weekend in the United States in July on a visit during which he took the opportunity to meet with the two main candidates for the US presidential elections in November, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
