It didn’t take long after the premiere of The Last of Us from HBO to confirm that there would be more seasons. There is great expectation around the sequel and little by little the first details come to light, such as the start of filming, which the producers finally spoke about.
Although Season 2 is a long way from being released, any new information about the project is welcome for fans.
In case you missed it: the most controversial episode of The Last of Us could compete for an Emmy.
Weeks ago we found out which would be the place where the filming would take place and today we know that the project will begin production in “the next few months and not years”, according to Neil Druckmann, one of the producers of the project.
As we saw in Season 1 of The Last of Us, those in charge are taking liberties to present certain events. With this in mind, at the Deadline FYC House + HBO Max event, the creatives were questioned in which part of the timeline the events of Season 2 will be located and if it would pick up the end of Season 1 days, months or years. after.
As expected, none of the producers shared any more details about it, with Craig Mazin simply explaining that they are not ready, other than that they find it fun to keep some of the mysteries and the sense of surprise about it.

When will Season 2 be ready? The Last of Us?
If we take into account that the filming of Season 1 of The Last of Us it began in July 2021 and ended in June 2022 to last 11 months. To this was added about 7 months of post-production so that the Season debuted in January 2023.
In the best case, Season 2 would start filming in July 2023, in the same month as Season 1, so if we take into account the same production times, we can estimate that Season 2 should debut in January 2025. In the worst case, the premiere would go until the end of that same year, around November 2025.
It’s important to remember that Ellie’s actress, Bella Ramsey, predicted that Season 2 should be out by the end of 2024; for his part, Joel’s actor Pedro Pascal imagined that it was very possible that filming for Season 2 would begin sometime in 2023, which is in line with the estimates above.
