March 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Around ten people have died this Tuesday in a suicide car bomb attack perpetrated by the terrorist group Al Shabaab against a house where a meeting of senior political and military officials was held in the Somali region of Gedo, located in the south of the country.
According to information collected by the Somali news portal Jowhar, the attack, carried out in the city of Bardere, has resulted in the death of five soldiers and four soldiers, while among the wounded is the governor of Gedo, Ahmed Bule Gared.
The town is located near the border with Kenya and has been the scene of several attacks by Al Shabaab, which has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group maintains ties to the terrorist organization Al Qaeda.
Somalia has increased offensives against Al Shabaab in recent months with the support of clans and local militias as part of a series of decisions taken by the president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who promised upon taking office to put the fight against terrorism at the center of his efforts to stabilize the African country.
