The Renewable Energy Observatory (ROSE), the Regional Technical Forum of Energy Planners (FOREPLEN) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in conjunction with the GET.transform initiative within the framework of the ECLAC- BMZ/GIZ “Inclusive, Sustainable and Intelligent Cities” (CISI), organized the first National Seminar “Methodology of diagnostic analysis and electrical planning to respond to sustainable electromobility”, in order to analyze and discuss electricity planning and electromobility, as well as to analyze the methodology of study, diagnosis and electrical planning for the promotion of sustainable electromobility in the region.
The objectives pursued by this first event (of three others) are among others: i). generate a space for dialogue and exchange of experiences related to electricity planning and electromobility in the country, ii). Identify the necessary electrical infrastructure as well as the characteristics of population growth that could impact the future demand for electromobility, iii). analyze the methodology of an analytical and computational model that uses artificial intelligence, and that offers answers regarding urban development for the years 2030 and 2050, iv). highlight the importance of energy planning as a tool to respond to future challenges facing the region’s electricity sector and future demands such as electromobility.
With the participation of numerous national authorities and representatives of international cooperation institutions: Mrs. Corina Küsel, Resident Director of GIZ for the Southern Cone, Thorsten Schlösser, representing GET.transform; Rubén Contreras Lisperguer, ECLAC Economic Affairs Officer, Antonio Levi, representative for Latin America of GET.transform and together with representatives of the government of Argentina Mr. Gustavo Rinaldi, Ministry of Transport Director of Environmental Impact of Transport in the Ministry of Transport of Argentina, Mr. Claudio Damiano Coordinator of the Renewable Energies and New Technologies Group: Distributed Generation and Electromobility, National Regulatory Entity of Electricity, Mr. Gustavo Barbaran National Director of Scenarios and Evaluation of Energy Projects in the Ministry of Energy, Ms. Florencia Mitchell National Director of Climate Change in the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr. Rafael Skiadaressis Ministry of Productive Development.
This seminar is the first of four events organized by the Regional Sustainable Energy Observatory (ROSE) and the Regional Technical Forum of Energy Planners (FOREPLEN), both ECLAC initiatives, with the support of the German Cooperation and GET.transform of the European Union. European. In all of them, it is expected to analyze the aforementioned study methodology for the diagnosis and planning of electromobility in prominent cities of: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, and operationalized by cluster 2 “Energy and Technology” of the ECLAC-ECLAC Cooperation Program. BMZ/GIZ “Inclusive, Sustainable and Intelligent Cities” (CISI) and regarding diagnoses and sustainable electrical planning, necessary to respond to the electrical demand that electromobility will generate in the region.
On this occasion, the status of the situation of electromobility in Argentina was analyzed, especially the analysis of the opportunities and barriers that are present in the country, as well as the general view regarding the approach and analysis of the diagnostic study and energy planning for electromobility. for the reality of Argentina.
The CISI project has specially developed an internet portal called “Urban Platform and Cities of Latin America and the Caribbean” in it it will be possible to collect the presentations of the event and multimedia resources of the same. The main objective of the Platform is to deliver national and subnational/level information on the cities of the region. Consequently, it seeks to provide its users with an information visualization tool.
The Platform is made up of two main components:
• The observatory: to collect and visualize urban and city information such as relevant indicators for monitoring the implementation of the NUA and the SDGs, legal instruments, urban plans, programs, projects, case studies and other initiatives.
• The Virtual Forum: for the analysis and discussion of territorial urban dynamics and processes in the region. It is based on the exchange of ideas and experiences by experts, decision makers and interested parties, to promote the strengthening of national and subnational capacities for the implementation of sustainable development agendas.
