National Transfer Accounts: ALAP Schools 2024

A new manual on disaggregated National Inclusion Accounts (NIA) is currently being developed to address inclusion and sustainability objectives in the context of population ageing.

The workshop will focus on National Transfer Accounts (NTAs) and their disaggregations. An overview of the estimation and use of NTAs and a discussion of advanced applications of NTAs, including general equilibrium models, will be provided. In addition, training in the estimation and use of National Time Transfer Accounts (NTAs) and National Inclusion Accounts (NIAs) will be provided during the workshop. NTAs provide the international standard for measuring who provides and who receives unpaid care, an essential but unmeasured characteristic of national economies, important for understanding gender inequality. Discussions of new innovations in time-use survey methods and advanced applications of NTAs and NIAs will be included. The training will consist of keynote sessions and discussion.

This training workshop is organized by CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC and UNFPA-LACRO within the framework of the ALAP Schools to be held at the XI Congress of the Latin American Population Association (ALAP) between December 9 and 10 in Bogotá, Colombia.

It is part of the 15th tranche of the United Nations Development Account project “Inclusive and sustainable economic growth in a society for all ages in the post-COVID-19 era in Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean”, coordinated by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC.
