Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah announced on Wednesday that if Hamas and Israel reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Shiite militia-party will also “unconditionally” end its attacks from Lebanon’s southern border.
“If a ceasefire agreement is reached in Gaza, our front will cease fire without any discussion because it is a support front,” Nasrallah announced during a speech he gave to remember Mohammad Nimah Nasser, known as ‘Abu Nimah’, a senior Hezbollah commander killed last week in an Israeli attack.
Nasrallah stressed that the Lebanese front has served to wear down Israel, which has understood, he said, like the rest of the world, that the end of operations on its northern border requires stopping its aggression in the Gaza Strip.
“All these operations have increased the enemy’s exhaustion, which is crying out for a shortage of troops in the army,” said Nasrallah, who mentioned Israel’s problems with this issue and the rejection among ultra-Orthodox Jews of the law that requires them to be recruited.
He said that the Lebanese front “is bearing fruit” because it has meant military, economic, security, social and other losses for Israel,” reported the Lebanese channel Al Manar.
