MSI Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ are equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V, a processor that integrates an Arc 140V graphics card and 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, double that of the previous model. This CPU, which like the rest of the Intel Core 200 series based on Lunar Lake stands out for its efficiency and low consumption, we have already seen in several laptops, but not in a console of this type. MSI claims that Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ outperform their competition by offering 113% more maximum FPS and 20% more average FPS under “identical consumption conditions.” The manufacturer does not detail which devices it has made its offspring compete with.
One of the biggest criticisms of the first Claw was its autonomy, so MSI has equipped the Claw 8 AI+ with an 80 Whr battery, which represents a notable jump compared to the 53 Whr of the last generation. The Claw 7 AI+ model does not receive the same love and settles for 54.5 Whr. In both cases, charging is done through a 65 W USB type C. At the consumption level, the technical sheet of the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor says that it has a base power of 17 W and a maximum turbo of 37 W.
The differences between Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ continue with the LCD touch screen with 120 Hz and 500 nits and the internal storage; 8-inch panel (1920 x 1200) and 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD “easy access” for the first, while the second settles for 7 inches (1920 x 1080) and an NVMe M.2 2230 of unspecified capacity. Where we do find coincidences is in Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth v5.34. Finally, mention that the Claw 8 AI+ weighs 795 grams and the Claw 7 AI+ drops to 675 grams.
