September 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Moroccan authorities have arrested 152 people for inciting illegal migration in connection with recent attempts to access the autonomous city of Ceuta, said Moroccan government spokesman Mustafa Baitas, who stressed the special surveillance of social networks.
“Some young people are being incited by unknown people who use social networks to mobilise them,” he said in a statement after the meeting of the Council of Ministers. According to the official version, reported by the MAP agency, nearly 3,000 people were intercepted in the Castillejos area on 15 September, when there was a massive attempt to enter Ceuta.
Baitas has highlighted the work of the security forces, stressing that “above all, they ensured the safety of those who wanted to emigrate illegally.” In this regard, he stressed during his appearance that no one has died in these operations.
The spokesman regretted all these incidents and stressed that migration is “a present and recurring problem in a large number of countries,” after this week part of the Moroccan press criticized Aziz Ajanuch’s government for its silence following the latest incidents and its lack of measures to address the needs of young people.
