Moroccan Navy rescues 257 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea

July 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Moroccan Navy has announced this Tuesday that it has rescued, between July 9 and 12, 257 migrants who tried to cross the Mediterranean Sea irregularly aboard improvised boats, kayaks and even swimming.

The rescued migrants were transported safe and sound to the nearest ports after receiving the necessary care on board the Royal Navy Combat Units, according to the MAP news agency, which cites military sources.

The rescue of these migrants – mostly sub-Saharan, women and children – has also taken place during the Muslim festival of Eid al Adha, as reported by the Moroccan newspaper ‘Le Matin’.
