More than ten people die after a minibus is hit by a train at a level crossing in Bangladesh

July 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least eleven people have died and three have been injured this Friday after a train ran over a minibus when it was trying to cross a level crossing in the Bangladeshi town of Mirsharai, located in the east of the Asian country, as confirmed by the authorities.

The general director of Bangladesh Railway for the eastern part of the country, Jahangir Hosain, has indicated in statements granted to the newspaper ‘The Daily Star’ that the minibus tried to cross the pass ignoring the requests of the guard to stop due to the proximity of the train .

However, Minhazur Rahman, a Mirsharai official, has denied that there was a guard at the site at the time of the event, although he has not commented on whether the level crossing was regulated in any way. The train has dragged the vehicle for about a kilometer until it came to a complete stop.

The victims of the accident were returning to the town after a visit to the Jaiyachara falls, without their identities having been revealed for the time being. The three injured have been admitted in critical condition, so it is not ruled out that the balance of victims may increase in the coming hours.
