Turkish security forces arrested more than 25 suspected members of the Islamic State jihadist group on Tuesday in a series of operations carried out in more than a dozen cities, including Istanbul (northwest).
The Izmir provincial prosecutor’s office has issued arrest warrants for 30 suspects, 27 of whom have already been arrested in 13 cities, while operations continue to locate the other three, the Turkish newspaper ‘Daily Sabah’ reported.
The Turkish government has announced the arrest of more than 3,000 people with suspected links to the group over the past year. Islamic State has carried out several attacks on Turkish soil in recent years, killing at least 300 people.
