Russia assures that the visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is “routine” and rules out that there is evidence about the origin of the artifacts
Nov. 12 () –
This Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador to the country, Oleg Ozerov, to whom it conveyed its firm condemnation after the “violation of Moldovan airspace” perpetrated over the weekend after two Russian drones fell in the territory.
“On November 10, two Russian drones were detected flying over sovereign Moldovan territory: one in the Causeni district and the other in Riscani,” the Ministry said in a statement in which it noted that there is “clear information that shows that these drones were deployed from Russia.”
Thus, he warned that these actions “endanger the lives of Moldovans” and stated that these “aggressive incursions” constitute a “serious violation and a hostile gesture by Russia” towards Moldova.
For this reason, the Government has once again asked the Russian authorities to “immediately stop these types of actions and put an end to any interference in the internal affairs of Moldova”, while protesting against the “illegal and deliberate interference in the elections ” held recently in the country and with which they seek to “undermine and delegitimize the democratic process.”
However, the Russian ambassador has ruled out such a call and has assured that his visit to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry is “routine.” “No one has summoned me. This meeting was planned,” he said in statements to the press reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
Over the weekend, the Moldovan Police reported that the remains of two drones that had fallen in areas of the north and south of the country had been found. Security forces published a series of photographs of the devices, which were not equipped with explosives.
Russian authorities have rejected these statements and have insisted that these accusations of alleged violations of Moldovan airspace by Russia “are baseless.” In this sense, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, highlighted on Monday that Moldova “has not presented evidence that the drones are of Russian origin or that they were launched from Russian territory.”
