March 21 () –
The Ministry of Energy of Moldova has recommended this Tuesday to the distribution company Moldovagaz that it reconsider its decision to buy gas from the Russian Gazprom again, since the country not only has reserves to preserve energy security, but the purchases must be made through the public Energocom.
“We believe that we do not need Russian gas yet. We have gas purchased and stored by Energocom. And we have to buy gas from Energocom. We have communicated our opinion to Moldovagaz and we are sure that the company will continue to make decisions in the interest of all citizens,” he said. the Moldovan Minister of Energy, Victor Parlikov.
Thus, it has warned that the purchase by Moldovagaz has not been agreed with the ministry and therefore the company is solely responsible for that decision. “We spent the whole winter without buying gas from Gazprom”, so “I was surprised when I found out that we have received gas from Gazprom for several days”, she assured.
Parlikov has reported that Moldovagaz has bought some two million cubic meters of Russian gas at a price at that of Energocom. “This is just under $1,000 per thousand cubic meters,” he said, according to the News Maker news portal.
On Monday, the head of Moldovagaz, Vadim Cheban, informed that they had made the decision to resume purchases from Gazprom until the end of March for the right bank of Moldova, after gas consumption began to decrease in Transnistria due to the increase of the temperatures.
