How much is the production worth?
In Mexico there are 3,123 companies dedicated to the mining industry. Puebla, Guerrero and Querétaro are the states with the highest number of registered businesses, but Campeche and Tabasco are the ones that generate the highest gross production.
Jobs and compensation
Despite being a key industry for the national economy, mining (not counting the manufacture of mineral products) is still far from its best level in terms of jobs created, although last year it began to approach, with almost a quarter of a million people. Wages also show very slow progress.

The collection of taxes from the industry has been very uneven in the last decade, 2021 was the best year of collection for the treasury.

Mining is highly attractive to foreign capital and 2021 was the period with the highest investment in eight years, although in 2022 a clear slowdown can be seen.
