The Europe Now Movement leader, Jakov Milatovic, has achieved 60.2 percent of the votes in the second round of the presidential elections held this Sunday in Montenegro according to the projection made after counting 80.07 percent of the votes.
Milatovic, who was former Minister of Economy, thus emerges as the main favorite to prevail in the elections and unseat the current president, Milo Djukanovic, after decades in power, who has achieved 39.8 percent of the votes as a Democratic Party candidate. of Socialists (PDS), according to the projection of the Montenegrin Center for Monitoring and Research.
Participation has been 70.7 percent of the census, some 383,3000 voters, according to the Center for Democratic Transition, the body in charge of organizing the elections.
In the north of the country, participation has been slightly lower, at 70 percent, while in the center it has reached 75.8 percent and in the south it has stood at 63.1, according to the CTD and collects the Montenegrin news agency MINA.
The CTD has recalled that 73.3 percent of the census voted in the 2016 legislative elections, while in the 2018 presidential elections the participation was 63.9 percent. 76.6 percent voted in the 2020 legislative elections.
In the first round of the presidential elections, held on March 19, 63 percent of the census voted. Then Djukanovic prevailed with 35.3 percent of the vote, followed by Milatovic, leader of the Europe Now Movement, who achieved 28.9 percent of the vote.
