MADRID 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The interim prime minister of Lebanon, Nayib Mikati, stated this Thursday that the evacuation orders issued by the Israeli Army for dozens of Lebanese cities and towns as part of its attacks against the country represent “a war crime.”
“The threats made by the Israeli enemy against Lebanese civilians who are asked to abandon entire cities and displace them from their areas and homes are an additional war crime that adds to the series of crimes committed by the Israeli enemy,” he said.
Thus, he has indicated that he has asked the Lebanese Foreign Ministry to work with the international community to request “greater pressure” on Israel to “stop its aggression,” according to a statement published by his office through his online account. social
Mikati’s statements come hours after the Israeli Army issued a new evacuation order for several towns and a Palestinian refugee camp located in southern Lebanon, after calling on Wednesday for the evacuation of the entire city of Baalbek ( this).
Over the past month, Israeli authorities have issued evacuation orders for dozens of Lebanese cities, mainly in the south of the country. The United Nations and numerous non-governmental organizations have in the past criticized the Israeli authorities for the use of these evacuation orders in the context of the offensive against the Gaza Strip, arguing that they amounted to forced displacement.
The Government of Lebanon has put the death toll at more than 2,800 and around 12,800 injured due to the attacks carried out by Israel since October 8, 2023, after the militia party began firing projectiles in support of the Palestinian groups following the attacks carried out the day before against Israeli territory.
