Microsoft Unveils Surface Pro 9 with Intel or ARM 5G, Surface Laptop 5 with Thunderbolt, and Surface Studio 2+ with RTX 3060

Microsoft has held an event dedicated exclusively to the Surface family during which it has announced three new devices. We have the versatile Surface Pro 9 that can act as a tablet or laptop, the Surface Laptop 5, a new generation of laptops with Thunderbolt but without AMD options, and the Surface Studio 2+, a productivity-oriented all-in-one that is upgrade to add an RTX 3060 graphics card.

The Surface Pro 9 presents as a great novelty the option to choose a processor. On the one hand we have the 12th generation Intel Core with a battery life of 15.5 hours, and on the other the Microsoft SQ3, an ARM chip with 5G that increases autonomy to 19 hours. The choice of processor also dictates other options, including memory and storage. With Intel you can have up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1 TB of SSD, while on ARM the maximum is 16 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 512 GB of SSD.

Regarding the rest of the hardware, Surface Pro 9 makes no distinction based on the processor. This results in a device with a 16-inch PixelSense Flow screen with 2880 x 1920 resolution (267 dpi) and 120 Hz, which incorporates a 1080p front camera and a 10 MP rear camera with autofocus and 1080p and 4K video. There’s also WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, 2 USB-C ports (Thunderbolt in Intel’s case), and a nano SIM slot for the ARM model.

The Surface Pro 9 will go on sale on November 8 from 1,299 euros for the model with Intel Core i5 and from 1,859 euros for the model with Intel Core i7. Those interested in the option with ARM, the Microsoft Store only lists a configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD for 1,659 euros.

The Surface Laptop 5 offers a more traditional upgrade and bets it all on Intel with 12th Gen Core i5/i7 processors that add a Thunderbolt port as a bonus. AMD disappears from the options without Microsoft having explained why. The rest of the specifications of the Surface Laptop 5 tell us that the device equips a PixelSense panel of 13.5 or 15 inches and resolution 2256 x 1504 (201 dpi), up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of SSD. In both cases the autonomy of the device is greater than 15 hours.

Those interested in the Surface Laptop 5 will be able to go for theirs from October 25. The 13.5-inch model will start at a price of 1,179 euros, while the 15-inch model is shipped from 1,529 euros.

Lastly, we have the Surface Studio 2+, an update of the Surface Studio 2. The passage of time is unforgiving, so inside we find several new features, while the exterior design remains practically the same. If we take a look at the data sheet, we see that the Surface Studio 2+ is delivered with an 11th generation Intel Core i7-11370H, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 GB, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage SSD. Regarding the PixelSense screen, it adds 28 inches with a resolution of 4500 x 3000.

The Surface Studio 2+ will be shipped from November 1 for 5,369 euros.
