Microsoft is not responsible for possible failures in the start menu, the search and Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps, which had issues launching on some Windows 11 devices, and suggests uninstalling apps that integrate with Windowsto which attribute the problem.
In a bug reported to Microsoft in the month of Januarya problem related to several components of Windows 11 was detailed, such as the Start Menuthe search Windows and uwp appsno started and stopped responding.
The affected teams had in common that, When did these failures occur?they were making use of some applications that use Microsoft Office APIs to integrate with Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, or Outlook Calendar.
One of the applications with which this failure was reported is ClickShare, developed by Barco, which is used for online collaboration and which uses its Outlook calendar integration capabilities.
At that moment, from ship pointed out the error and warned that it could trigger the start menu and windows search not respondingplus Microsoft Outlook and OneDrive couldn’t connect and sync. They also explained that these errors occurred because the ClickShare application was triggering an error in the Microsoft Office API.
Now, Microsoft has detailed in a Windows 11 bug report published in May that the problem has not been caused by installing a Windows update, but rather “may be exposed by an update to an affected application.” Specifically, he has explained that the Affected devices “may have corrupted registry keys or data” and that these can affect applications that use the Microsoft Office APIs.
As alternative solution, In order to mitigate these failures, Microsoft has raised uninstall applications that integrate with Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Calendar. “Updates may also be available of affected apps or guidance from the app developer,” Microsoft concluded.
However, the technology company has also pointed out that they are working on a resolution and will provide an update “in a future version”.
