Microsoft reassures users about the recent controversy with Recall

Since the original announcement of Microsoft Recall, many raised their voices to the sky, pointing out that it was a feature that was very insecure and that violated the privacy of users.

In fact, it seems that this was the case, because Microsoft was quick to temporarily remove Recall from testing and has been adding different security options over time before its deployment in a stable version in the coming weeks.

However, Recall has been in preview for some users for some time, and has not been without controversy.

In fact a user posted on Reddit a few days ago, that even Microsoft Recall is capturing screenshots of very sensitive information such as credit card or social security numbers.

Microsoft, in a recent post, has explained that Recall does not represent any risk for the privacy of users.

They rely on these four reasons

one of them Recall is optional. When you set up your compatible PC at the beginning, you have the option to skip this setting. In any case Recall is optional. Even if you choose to enable it you can disable the feature completely at any time.

Another argument is that the data stored in Recall is encrypted with protected key through the trusted platform module.

The other reason is that the Recall services that handle snapshots of what you do and data are also isolated within the VBS enclave.

Finally, the other reason, is that all the actions that Recall performs must be previously authorized through Windows Hello.

Obviously Microsoft Recall can take screenshots of everything you are doing, including your social security or credit card numbers, but that is because the user has previously configured it that way.

Users can exclude different web pages or services so that Recall does not act on the snapshots, and this is done through the configuration, although it is a feature that did not work in the first preview version.

At the moment Microsoft Recall is not available in a stable version, and it will also be compatible with a few computers at the moment.
