Microsoft partners with Snapchat to add its filters to Teams

Although most of its functions were quickly copied by networks like Instagram or TikTok, Snapchat was one of the pioneers in popularizing real-time filters, some of them with surprising effects and qualities.

Now, Microsoft has reached an agreement with the developer of Snapchat, Snap, to add several of its filters to the Microsoft Teams video conferencing system. Specifically, there will be more than 20 “Snapchat Lenses” that will reach the Redmond company’s Teams platform.

Snapchat Lenses will only be available in Microsoft Teams for Work

In the latest Microsoft Teams updates, these integrated lenses should already appear directly, without the need to install any additional program or add-on, although will only come to the professional version of Microsoft Teams for Work, and users of Teams for personal or Educational use, will not have access to these new filters.

Taking into account that the filters add sunglasses, cat ears, stuffed animals or chickens on the head, among other things, it is striking that it is limited to Teams for work environments and does not reach Teams users for personal use, since that in those areas it would make more sense to use this type of comic filters than in a work meeting.
