Microsoft launches new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Friends & Family plan

microsoft has announced the official launch of its new Friends & Family monthly subscription plan for Xbox Game Pass Ultimatein which up to five players from the same country of residence can subscribe.

Xbox currently offers three tiers of Game Pass membership: Console, PC, and Ultimate, bringing together all the benefits of the previous two, with features like access to EA Play and hundreds of games, including those from Xbox Game Studios since day of its release.

The Redmond company began testing this new monthly subscription service in Colombia and Ireland at the beginning of last August, when it confirmed that the plan allowed up to five players.

Now, Microsoft has announced the official launch of this service, which can now be accessed by all users in both countries. As recalled in Xbox websitethe new plan for family and friends allows the user to share their Game Pass Ultimate subscription with up to four additional users.

As the only requirement, all users of the same Xbox Game Pass plan must reside in the same country. This indicates that if a group member changes their country or region of residence and no longer matches that of the primary account holder, they will be removed from the group.

In addition, the administrator will be responsible for the payments, made through the Microsoft digital store, and the only one who can add or remove the rest of the group members from the account, which can be coordinated from the Services and subscriptions page. .

Microsoft has also highlighted that users can be part of a single family plan, not be part of several. In addition, the company only allows a maximum of eight people to go through the same account each year, in the event that there is a rotation of members of the same account. For their part, the members of this plan you can only join one of these groups twicealso every 365 days.

The company has clarified that each user will maintain their own account and profile to be able to save their games and record their progress, as well as to receive personalized recommendations based on their activity in the subscription service.

The technology company has also recalled that members of the same Xbox Game Pass plan can play at the same time, even the same titleor enjoy an online multiplayer game together.

The price of the new plan is 21.99 euros in Ireland and 49,900 pesos in Colombia. However, the company anticipates that new countries and regions may opt for this plan “in the coming months”, although it has not determined specific dates.

Microsoft has also confirmed the conversion rate of users who previously had a subscription to one of its services. In this way, users who have 30 days of Game Pass Ultimate will have 18 days of this new plan for family and friends. In turn, those who have a month of Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass for console or PC, will be able to enjoy 12 days.

Finally, those who had 30 days of EA Play, Electronic Arts’ subscription service, will have 6 days of the new Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan.
