Microsoft introduces an enterprise version of Edge and what’s new in Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft has presented this Tuesday news for its Edge browser with improvements for Microsoft 365 Copilot, which is already available in a private preview version, and the presentation of the new Edge version for companies, which will provide facilities to work “effectively” and with functions of security.

Specifically, Microsoft 365 Copilot includes new capabilities that make it possible to combine the large language models, Microsoft 365 Apps, and user data in the Microsoft Graph, such as calendar, email, chat, and documents, to make it easier to carry carry out actions such as writing emails or chat threads, only with a request.

Along these lines, Microsoft has also reported that it has added support for plugins in Microsoft 365 Copilot, and based on that, is adopting the open plugin standard that uses OpenAI in ChatGPT.

In this way, the company claims that “interoperability is improved” in ChatGPT and increases the possibilities of the Microsoft co-pilot. In addition, this allows developers to create experiences that make it easy for users to interact with their apps using “human language.”

Another of the novelties announced in relation to the Microsoft copilot has been the incorporation of AI into existing workflows, as a consequence, the search for information has been facilitated and typing is simplified while using Edge.

One of the improvements is based on the fact that Microsoft Search will now show “contextually relevant” files in relation to the searches that are being carried out and links to SharePoint in the address bar according to the relevance and its activity. In addition, it has improved the search experience on the page itself with Smart Find, which it has implemented globally and which also helps correct syntactic and semantic errors to provide accurate information about the content of the page.

On the other hand, Microsoft has indicated that the browser has been redesigned based on the comments transferred by users to achieve an “aesthetically pleasing and easy to use” browsing experience. Thus, the company has detailed that they are based on the “modern elegance of Windows 11” by implementing rounded corners, translucent backgrounds, and fluid animations.

MICROSOFT EDGE FOR BUSINESS

The company has also introduced Microsoft Edge for business, designed to ensure security while allowing users to work “effectively.” This experience may be triggered by an Azure Active Directory (AAD) login.

This version of Edge is also useful for hybrid work, as it allows users to have privacy and separation in their work task navigation and personal searches. That is, it enables a separation of browsing history and passwords.

Another great feature of Edge for business is that work-related websites, such as apps, Microsoft 365 services, and pages that require a work login, will open automatically in your browser window. job.

For information technology (IT) professionals, this Enterprise Edge experience reduces the “surface area” for cyberattacks, thereby providing more security for the organization or business. In addition, administrators can design controls and security for this version of the browser with enterprise capabilities like integrated data loss prevention or information rights management.

In addition to all this, the company has announced that Edge Workspaces will no longer be available only in preview and will be generally available to everyone “in the coming months.”

Another of the presentations that Microsoft has made is the Edge management service, focused on IT administrator users, which includes a “simplified and intuitive” interface for browser management when configuring group policies and extensions.

For example, in the Extensions tab, admins can access Edge plugins to view ratings, search, add, and remove extensions, as well as view extension requests from users.

Another of the new features that Microsoft has implemented in Edge for business is that users can access corporate resources “from anywhere” thanks to Microsoft Edge on mobile devices.
