microsoft has announced a change in the default behavior of Office applications so that block macros of the files that come from the Internet, in an attempt to strengthen the security of its services.
Macros are a series of instructions that are grouped into a command to perform a task automatically. Are too the gateway for some digital threats, like ‘ransomware’.
To improve Office security, the company has blocked macros of files from the Internet, like the attachments in an ’email’, as they may be part of a ‘phishing’ campaign, which impersonates a legitimate source to lower the user’s defenses.
This measure implemented by Microsoft affects only the Office applications on Windows computers, in concert, to Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Wordas it collects it’s a statement.
The block has been deployed in first in version 2203 available since last April in early version. It is complemented by the option that organizations have to block these types of files to prevent them from being opened unknowingly.
