The brand Office It has accompanied users of Microsoft’s office suite for more than 30 years, but the Redmond company is determined to say goodbye to it. We saw one of the most important movements in this regard in 2020, when Office 365 was renamed Microsoft 365. Now, more changes are on the way.
Microsoft has announced that, in the coming months, the Office.com website, and the Office apps for mobile phones and Windows will be renamed Microsoft 365. The name change will not come alone. The company says it will also implement a new app icon, refreshed design, and new features.
Office apps will transform to Microsoft 365
Recall that Microsoft 365 groups the company’s productivity applications under a subscription. Office apps available on different platforms work with subscriptions to Office 365, Office 2019, Office 2016, or the free web-based version, and let you access Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more. from one place.
Microsoft is unifying its products under one name, and while it adds a number of new features, will not result in changes to existing user accounts, subscriptions, or files. The update will arrive on Office.com in November of this year, and the mobile and Windows apps will be updated in January 2023.
Among the innovations are a new icon and design the application, new templates, a renewed application module to launch Microsoft 365 applications, a new “My Content” section to more easily find all the documents. The custom labels already available on the web and Windows will also come to the mobile app.
It should be noted that the name change does not mean that Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Microsoft applications will disappear. These will continue to be available for Office 365 users. In addition, those from Redmond assure that they will continue to offer the possibility of buying Office 2021 and Office LTSC.
