Mexico's economy grew 3.1% in 2022

By economic activities, primary activities (agriculture) grew 2% compared to the third quarter and had an increase of 6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021. In such a way that, for all of 2022 they reported an increase of 2.7% compared to with 2021.

Secondary activities (industry) grew 0.5% at a quarterly rate at the end of 2022 and 3.2% compared to the last quarter of 2021. And they had an advance of 3.3% in all of 2022, compared to what was reported during all of 2021.

And, finally, tertiary activities (services) had a more moderate growth, of just 0.1% compared to the third quarter of 2021 and 3.7% compared to the fourth of 2021. Closing with an increase of 2.8%, in all of 2022, vs. 2021.

Economic activity advances in December

The Inegi also published the economic activity for December, reporting a growth of 0.3% at the monthly rate, a figure higher than the increase of just 0.1% previously.

The surprising growth in the last month of the year was driven by the industrial sector, with a 0.7% monthly expansion. While agriculture and services grew 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively.
