( Spanish) — The Government of Mexico said in a press release that it “recognizes the sentence of the perpetrator of the shooting in El Paso, Texas, in 2019.”
Twenty-three people were killed in the attack, including nine Mexican citizens, and another 23 people were injured, the statement said.
Through the Foreign Ministry, the Government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador says that it “recognizes the decision made” by Judge David G. Guadarrama.
For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, with the sentence, “a clear condemnation is reiterated against hate speech, xenophobia, white supremacism and any act of violence.”
The General Consulate of Mexico in El Paso, says the Mexican Foreign Ministry, “will continue to monitor the judicial process that the defendant will face before the state of Texas, as well as the attention that the victims and their families may require.”
