Mexico prohibits the importation of goods produced with forced labor

Investigations may be initiated at the request of natural or legal persons legally constituted in Mexico, or informally by the STPS when there is sufficient evidence to do so. The authority will have a period of 180 days to investigate the merchandise identified in light of the indicators of the International Labor Organization (ILO) regarding forced labor.

In order to guide the general public regarding the operation of this mechanism, the STPS and the SE make available the Guide for the Implementation of the Mechanism to Restrict the Importation of Goods Produced with Forced or Compulsory Labor, which can be consulted at the following link: https://www.gob.mx/stps/documentos/guia-para-la-instrumentacion-del-mecanismo-para-restringir-la-importacion-de-mercancias-producidas-con-trabajo-forzoso-u-obligatorio

According to the Ministry of Economy, Mexico complies with article 23.6 of the Labor Chapter of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC), which obliges member countries to establish mechanisms to prohibit the importation of merchandise into their territory from other sources produced in whole or in part by forced labor.
